The Raiders finally found someone who was interested in Pryor’s talents enough to give up a seventh round draft pick. Even though it isn’t an ideal fit for Pryor to start like he wanted, it is a trade and the Raiders most likely were looking on getting something for him instead of waiting for something that he may have wanted to happen. There is always good sides to trade and bad sides.
The Good: The Seahawks upgrade their quarterback depth and get a quality player for a minimal exchange. Pryor himself can also benefit from this experience by being mentored and learning more about himself and the position. The obvious mentor would be Russell Wilson, who just came off a Super Bowl victory. They both have a lot more similarities than differences and Pryor will be able to take the experience of someone who is young as well and has elevated his game so quickly.
I think he can benefit more from the other quarterback with the Seahawks, Tarvaris Jackson. He is someone who has started but has jumped from team to team which could be the route that Pryor could be headed in. Jackson, as a veteran, has a lot of knowledge and like Wilson, shares a similar quarterback style. Pryor might not get the chance to start but he will play in what arguably could be the team with the best quarterback depth in the league.
The Bad: Pryor wanted to leave the Raiders to get an opportunity to start a new with a team, which normally means he wants playing time. He will be behind Wilson who just finished being one of the youngest quarterbacks to win a Super Bowl, so the team is strongly behind him. Tarvaris Jackson has been with the team and is the veteran presence. While he can benefit from them, he has no easy task in trying to start.
