Most hockey fans know about the world’s oldest hockey stick, the Moffatt Stick.

The sticks current owner, Mark Presley, is sitting on a historic piece of hockey history, that just so also happens to be a gold mine.

Presley bought the stick for close to $1,000 at a barbershop owned by George Ferneyhough. Before Ferneyhough owned the hockey artifact, it was passed down through the Moffatt family. It started with John Mumford Moffatt, who manufactured the stick for his son, WM “Dilly” Moffatt, according to themoffattstick.com.

The stick has been dated back to around the 1830’s.

The Moffatt Stick is up for bidding on ebay.

As of 10:15 am is at $50,300 though the reserve has not been met. The auction is set to end Saturday.

So if you have $50,000+ just laying around, and are in the mood to deal with ebay snipers at such a high price, then this piece of history is for you!

A piece of history like this, should be in Toronto, in the Hockey Hall of Fame. I hope the rich guy that ends up buying this stick does the right thing.
