It has been slightly over a year since the last time the United States Men’s National Team played the Mexican National Team. Their last encounter, which also was a friendly, ended with a scoreless draw in Phoenix, which led up to the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. The next chapter in the USA-Mexico rivalry presents something a little different on both sides. Both Jurgen Klinsmann and Miguel “El Piojo” Herrera are bringing domestic rosters to San Antonio.

The USMNT’s 22-player roster consists of two players playing in Europe, five Liga MX players, and fifteen playing in the United States (thirteen playing in the MLS).

USMNT Roster

Goalkeepers: Bill Hamid (D.C. United), Nick Rimando (Real Salt Lake), Willian Yarbrough (Leon)

Defense: Brad Evans (Seattle Sounders), Brek Shea (Orlando City), DeAndre Yedlin (Tottenham Hotspur), Greg Garza (Tijuana), Matt Besler (Sporting KC), Michael Orozco Fiscal (Puebla), Omar Gonzalez (LA Galaxy), Ventura Alvarado (Club America)

Midfielders: Joe Corona (Tijuana), Kyle Beckerman (Real Salt Lake), Lee Nguyen (New England Revolution), Michael Bradley (Toronto FC), Miguel Ibarra (Minnesota United), Mix Diskerud (New York City FC)

Forwards: Chris Wondolowski (San Jose Earthquakes), Gyasi Zardes (LA Galaxy), Jordan Morris (Stanford/Sounders U-23), Juan Agudelo (New England Revolution), Julian Green (Hamburg)

Mexico’s 19-player roster, which was released earlier in the week is completely focused on Liga MX based players. Since the release of the schedule, Oribe Peralta(foot) and Jurgen Damm(salmonella) have been ruled out and have been replaced with Marco Bueno and Carlos Esquivel.

Mexico Roster

Goalkeepers: Cirilo Saucedo (Tijuana), Jonathan Orozco (Monterrey)

Defenders: Francisco “Maza” Rodriguez (Cruz Azul), Julio “Cata” Dominguez (Cruz Azul), Oswaldo Alanis (Santos), Adrian Aldrete (Santos), George Corral (Queretaro), Gerardo Flores (Cruz Azul), Hiram Mier (Monterrey), Efrain Velarde (Monterrey), Carlos Salcedo (Chivas)

Midfielders: Luis “Chapo” Montes (Leon), Antonio Rios (Toluca), Carlos Esquivel (Toluca), Mario Osuna (Queretaro), Luis Rodriguez (Chiapas)

Forwards: Marco Bueno (Club Toluca), Erick “Cubo” Torres (Chivas), Eduardo “Lalo” Herrera (Pumas)

Another key point going into this game is the fact that Mexico has not won a match against the USMNT since their 4-2 Gold Cup Final victory on June 25, 2011. Since then, the USMNT has gone a 2-0-3 run which includes a victory at Azteca. It is also worth noting that Klinsmann has called up nine players that played in the last World Cup. Herrera only called up one.

The game will be Wednesday, April 15th, 2015 at 9 pm E.T. at the Alamo Dome in San Antonio, Texas. The game will be aired on Fox Sports 1 and Univision (Spanish broadcast).
