On Sunday, the Toronto Maple Leafs fired general manager David Nonis and interim coach Peter Horachek after finishing the season with an 30-44-8 record.

The Maple Leafs fired assistant coaches Steve Spott and Chris Dennis and goaltending coach Rick St. Croix as well. The team also announced assistant GM Kyle Dubas and director of player personnel Mark Hunter will share the general manager responsibilities on an interim basis.

Nonis joined the Toronto Maple Leafs organization in 2008 as senior vice-president and director of hockey operations. In Janurary 2013, Nonis was given the GM position and helped lead the team to the playoffs that season. Following two seasons without the playoffs and the Leafs having their worst season since the 1996 – 97 season, Nonis was relieved from his position.

Horachek joined Toronto in the offseason as an assistant coach and was named interim head coach on January 7th, replacing former head coach Randy Carlyle. Horachek went on to a 9-28-5 record.

The Maple Leafs have only made the playoffs once since the 2004-05 lockout and haven’t made the Stanley Cup Finals since 1966-67 season.
