With the series in Detroit, Joe Lewis Arena was rocking, trying their best to get their Red Wings to even the series at two.

Jonas Gustavson got the start between the pipes for the Red Wings, as usual starter Jimmy Howard is out with the flu. And for the most part Gustavson did a solid job backing up Howard.

It was all Red Wings in the first period as they broke the scoring open half way through the period, on Vezina award finalist Tuukka Rask. Niklas Kronwall blasted a slapshot on the power play, top shelf past Rask to give the Wings the early advantage.

Detroit would take the 1-0 lead into the locker room, and the momentum that came with it.

Five minutes into second period, Pavel Datsyuk tapped his goal on a Bruins defensive break down.

The two lead would be short lived. The Wings would go on the penalty kill, after a Todd Bertuzzi interference penalty on Zdeno Chara.

The B’s would convert their power play, as Torey Krug beat Gustavson to put Boston on the board.

Boston would take momentum into the third, and Milan Lucic would tie the game just 1:15 into the third period.

“It was a bit ugly at times, but then we got our stuff together and got going,” said Bruins goalie Tuukka Rask, who made 35 saves. “It’s just one of those things that we have a lot of character in this room, that once we get going, we can come [back] from a deficit. But it just has to happen.”

This is the ninth time this postseason where a team has come from 2+ goals down to tie the game.

Everything would stay the same, as both goalies secured the tie, and we went to the theme of this years playoffs “overtime”.

Jerome Iginla ended the game, with his deflected shot off Dougie Hamilton 13:32 into the overtime frame.

“Guys have been through it before in here and there’s some great leadership; guys stepping up and saying to remain calm and work for that first goal before they get No. 3,” Iginla said. “We were able to do that and fight our way back into it. It always feels awesome to be on the winning side of an OT game.”

Game 5 is set for Saturday afternoon 3pm EST NBC/TSN
