Following a 10-year run with the San Francisco 49ers, running back Frank Gore will be signing with the Philadelphia Eagles when the free agency signing period begins on Tuesday, March 10th.

A consistent and physical runner, Gore has been one of the most productive backs in the league since his rookie year in 2005, and even though there was speculation that he might have been on the decline, he was still able to record a 1,000 yard season in 2014, gaining 1,106 yards for a healthy 4.3 yards per carry average.

Eagles head coach Chip Kelly figures to be plugging Gore into a starting position immediately, following the departure of LeSean McCoy via trade. The presence of Darren Sproles as a change-of-pace and 3rd-down back should help Gore stay in top condition as he transitions to the NFC East. Veteran leadership and blocking ability are both traits that Gore has become well-known for around the league, and Kelly will definitely see this as a plus for the Eagles.

On the defensive end, cornerback Byron Maxwell has also been signed by the Eagles, with Maxwell himself confirming the move to ESPN’s Josina Anderson:

Having played on the much-vaunted “Legion of Boom” secondary in Seattle with Kam Chancellor, Earl Thomas, and Richard Sherman, Maxwell will now have the opportunity to prove himself as one of the best defensive backs in the league.

Moving to a division where he will be lining up against the likes of Dez Bryant, Odell Beckham Jr., Victor Cruz, and DeSean Jackson twice a year will be a huge test for the Eagles secondary, and Maxwell will have his work cut out for him.
