On Thursday, September 10th, the Pittsburgh Steelers will travel to the defending Super Bowl champion New England Patriots to open week 1 in Foxborough. Both teams have represented the AFC in 9 of the last 14 Super Bowls, so it makes for an appropriate curtain-raiser to the season. Ben Roethlisberger will be eager to test New England’s secondary after the departure of Darrelle Revis, but Pittsburgh will also have to do without the services of star running back Le’Veon Bell. On the opposite end, Tom Brady will be ready to show detractors that there will be no sense of complacency from New England this season.

There will be rematches of both conference championship games from last season airing on NBC as Sunday Night Football games: Defending NFC champion Seattle travels to Green Bay for the Sunday night game in week 2 (September 20th), and Indianapolis will play host to New England in week 6 (October 18th).

With the NFL celebrating its milestone 50th year this season, there will be plenty of nostalgia around the league, and the schedule is no exception. No less than nineteen past Super Bowl matchups have been scheduled, from a rematch of the very first Super Bowl between the Green Bay Packers and the Kansas City Chiefs in week 3 (September 28th) to a rematch of the 2013 tilt between the San Francisco 49ers and the Baltimore Ravens, which will take place at San Francisco in week 6 (October 18th).

As for prime-time coverage, the scheduled games for Thursdays (CBS and NFL Network simulcast); Sundays (NBC); and Mondays (ESPN) are as follows:

As usual, NBC’s Sunday Night Football slate of games is subject to change, depending on flex scheduling.

Just 142 days until the season kicks off, fans!
