Manchester City from being second place a few weeks ago, has now dropped to fourth and had West Ham United who currently sits in 10th ahead of them. Manuel Pellegrini and his men, had to quickly forget about the past and start collecting valuable points. They had a good opportunity at home today to come back to winning ways.

Minute 17″ Manchester City went up ahead in the score sheet after an own goal by the defender James Collins. Jesus Navas attacked rapidly through the right side and sent a cross to Sergio Aguero, Collins tried to clear the ball out but it went over the keeper’s head into the top woodwork and into the goal. With a little of bit of football and luck, the citizens were leading one nil.

Ten minutes before the end of the second half, Stewart Downing for the hammers saved a ball from going out in the right side and played it back to center field. Yaya Toure slid and denied the pass, and created a counter attack. Sergio Aguero picked the ball from the Toure’s tackle and went two versus one. Aguero took Collins and played a ball to Jesus Navas as he was running down the right side. Jesus Navas played it back to Aguero who then controlled  the ball as it was slipping away. He managed to slide and put it through the keeper’s legs.

Minute 67″ Chelkhou Kouyate received a yellow card after a flying elbow that made contact with David Silva’s head. The elbow did not seem on purpose, but it definitely knocked out Silva. Silva was helped by the medical staff for seven minutes and was taken out in an oxygen mask. David Silva later reported through his twitter social media account that he stated “Many thanks to all the messages of support, all the tests have gone well and I’m already home. The 3 points is what was important!”

Manchester City with this victory gained controll of 4th place and is one point behind United and two behind Arsenal, who have one less game. Manchester City will receive Aston Villa next weekend for another opportunity at home to collect points.
