After defeating the Celtics in game 1, 113-110, the Cleveland Cavaliers looked to game 2 with a possible chance to take the NBA “strangle hold” on Boston. Needless to say, the Cleveland Cavaliers would go up two games to none as they defeated the Celtics, 99-91.
The Cavaliers were led by former MVP and current MVP candidate, LeBron James, who had 30 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists in 42 minutes. The performance was just days away from his 20 point performance in game one. Overall, the Cavaliers would have a total of 92 points from the starting rotation, with the only bench points coming from Matthew Dellavedova (5 points) and Iman Shumpert (2 points).
On the other side of the hardwood, the Boston Celtics would be led by Isaiah Thomas, who in 30 minutes had 22 points (6-14) and 7 assists. The Celtics would also get a 14 and 5 performance by Jared Sullinger, who joined Thomas coming off the bench. On the other side of things, the Celtics will wish for more from big man Kelly Olynyk, who had a mere 5 points on the day.
The series will now switch to the TD Garden. If the Celtics would like a chance to take down the Cavaliers then they will need to step up their game and take both of the games, effectively tying the series 2-2 with the rubber match being in Cleveland (who holds home court advantage).
