The first match up of the semifinals began with Brazil facing Germany.  Brazil came in with a 2-1 victory over Colombia but was also missing their star attacker Neymar and their captain Thiago Silva. Dante replaced Thiago Silva as center back while Bernard replaced Neymar on the attack. Germany came with a 1-0 victory over their European rival, France.

The match began with both teams looking evenly matched. Both sides pressured for an opening they can use to score but it was Germany that took the lead with a goal from Thomas Muller on the 11th minute. This marks Muller’s 10th World Cup career goal with this year’s world cup being his second one he has played in. As if a 1-0 lead wasn’t enough, Klose made it 2-0 on the 23rd minute to break Ronaldo’s record of goals. It only took Toni Kroos a minute to score two goals on the 25th and 26th minutes to put Germany up with a 4-0 victory. A 4-0 victory wasn’t enough for Sami Khedira as he nets the fifth goal for Germany on the 29th minute. Brazil was lost throughout the first half with none of their chances going in. Germany was in complete control of the half. The first half ended with a 5-0 lead for Germany over the host, Brazil.

Andre Schurrle replaced Miroslav Klose in the attack on the 58th minute. Dante received the first yellow card of the match on the 68th minute. Schurrle netted the sixth goal of the match on the 69th minute. Fred was replaced by Willian on the 71st minute.  Julian Draxler made his World Cup debut as he comes on for Sami Khedira on the76th minute. The final score ended with Germany defeating Brazil 7-1, securing their spot in the 2014 FIFA World Cup final. Brazil showed no sign of the team that they usually are in any competition. It seemed as if they gave up when the first goal was scored. This loss is a sign that Brazil needs to change some things around in order for them to move on from this loss and reestablish themselves as one of the top nations in the world of football. Germany will either face Argentina or Netherlands in the final.
