With the season 1/4 of the way through, there have been some impressive players. One player , in my opinion, that has stood out is Oklahoma City Thunders superstar Kevin Durant. After playing shadow to LeBron James for many years, he is finally putting up numbers that can possibly get him the MVP title. Durant is currently averaging 30 ppg, 1.5 spg, 8.3 rpg, and is nearly averaging a block a game. Keep in mind he is doing all this while still shooting .483% from the field and .376 from 3-point. This award will not be handed to Durant though, he has some tough competition like Paul George, Chris Paul, Kevin Love, and Carmelo Anthony. I know many of you say, “Melo? Really?”, but this is an individual award and he is putting up MVP numbers.

The  MVP award is only given to the greatest player of the season and some of the legends that have received this award are just that ,GREAT. If Kevin Durant were to win this award, it would only be one of many accomplishments he would need to be in that category. He has always strived to be the best but has always come up short behind LeBron. Durant has been runner-up to James 3 out of his 4 MVP trophies. Although he is looking to make LeBron the runner-up this year, it is going to be tough road ahead. He would most likely need to outscore, outrebound, and outplay LeBron until seasons end.
