Cole Hamels is boosting his trade stock for the Philadelphia Phillies by throwing a no-hitter against the Chicago Cubs. He finished with 13 strikeouts and 2 walks in the Phillies’ 5-0 win.

Hamels’ no-hitter is the third one of the 2015 season, following Max Scherzer and Chris Heston. Hamels also took part in a no-hitter last September, combining with 3 other pitchers to no-hit the Atlanta Braves in a 7-0 win.

With 2 outs in the 9th inning, Kris Bryant hit a drive to center field, Odubel Herrera tracked the ball to the warning track, slipped and fell, but caught the ball anyway.

That catch completed the 13th no-hitter in Phillies history. Herrera also made a great play to preserve the no-hitter in the 8th inning, a diving catch on the warning track for the 2nd out.

Hamels is the 3rd visitor and 8th pitcher overall to throw a no-hitter at Wrigley Field. Before this one, the only road team to have thrown a no-hitter at Wrigley was the Cincinnati Reds, who did it twice.

Hamels threw a season-high 129 pitches in what may be his last outing in a Phillies’ uniform. If he is traded before his next start, he will be the first pitcher in Major League history to pitch for a different team in his first start after throwing a no-hitter.
