Kevin Love is about to be a Cleveland Cavalier. But can he, Lebron, and Kyrie Irving co-exist? Or will the trio face difficulty adjusting to each other?
I believe they can play together and only because of LeBron James. His greatness cannot be undermined, a factor, coupled with his selflessness, that allows him to essentially be the general manager of the Cavaliers. Right after he made his decision to return, the likes of James Jones, Mike Miller, and Shawn Marion followed suit (and possibly Ray Allen).
With such additions to the roster, the Cavs now field endless possibilities for their starting five, with supposed genius coach David Blatt able to be ever so flexible with his lineup.
To make a long awaited return to the NBA Finals, the Cavaliers will have to go through Miami, Chicago, Washington, and maybe even a more formidable Charlotte team. More so, LeBron and the Cavs will have a tougher time in the regular season considering how much more competitive Eastern Conference teams are starting to get.
But the Cavs have LeBron, and with him, almost anything is possible to win a championship. Throw in Love and Irving, and you have the favorites to be the Conference champs.
Against teams like Miami and Atlanta, the Cavs can play small-ball. LeBron, who can guard all five positions, can play the 4 spot, with Love playing center. Put Irving as the point guard and two solid wings in there, and the Cavs will be able to guard smaller, quicker players, with Love’s extraordinary ability to shoot so well beyond the arc.
Against bigger teams like Chicago and Washington, coach Blatt can play Anderson Varejao and Shawn Marion, both solid defenders, at center and power forward, and shift LeBron and everyone else down a position. Problem solved.
Blatt, with many more options than you might think, will be able to not only match up, but also create the defensive nightmares for opposing teams in situations.
Kyrie Irving will take off the ball-handling pressures of LeBron James, who will have his energy to dominate more than he did in Miami, which is a scary thought. Either Irving or James will be able to run the pick-and-pop with Love, who’ll shoot with great ease and comfort. And when the defenses collapse on Lebron’s drives, he’ll have four great 3-point shooters to kick out to.
All in all, it’s really indescribable to witness how much power LeBron has, as a player, with the ability to attract other great players to play with him and push for general manager David Griffin to make the appropriate moves. Despite LeBron’s comments before, don’t be surprised when the Cavs do reach the Finals.
