BREAKING: LeSean McCoy Traded to Buffalo (UPDATES)

1

Entirely too early for April Fool’s, the Philadelphia Eagles sprang one of the shockers of the offseason when word got out through Adam Schefter at ESPN that the teams have agreed to terms on a trade that would send RB LeSean McCoy to Buffalo for LB Kiko Alonso.

McCoy, coming off 1,474 yards of total offense in 2014 after a 2,000+ yard season, will be only 27 when training camp opens this summer. As a feature back, McCoy has been a force in the NFL over the past 5 seasons, amassing a league-leading 6,155 yards on the ground in that span while also racking up just under 2,000 receiving yards, with a total of 50 touchdowns scored.

Meanwhile, Alonso will be raring to go after being forced to miss 2014 with a torn ACL. Known as a hard-tackling ball hawk, he should make an immediate impact in Philadelphia’s front seven, having proven himself with 159 total tackles and 4 interceptions in his rookie season in 2013. On a personal level, he will also be looking forward to reuniting with his college coach Chip Kelly.

Per Schefter’s report, the trade will be made official next week, per league rules preventing transactions before the beginning of the new league year on March 10th

UPDATE: C.J. Spiller was just live on NFL Total Access on the NFL Network, and said that he had received a call from the Bills thanking him for his service.
