The second game of Wednesday night was also incredible, in which we saw Bayern Munich destroy Shakhtar Donetsk in a seven goal frenzy and not allowing Shakhtar to once get inside the net. Bayern Munich showed that they were the team we are used to seeing before VfL Wolfsburg destroyed them back in January.

Bayern Munich’s Thomas Muller scored two goals during the match while Jerome Boateng, Franck Ribery, Holger Badstuber, Robert Lewandowski and Mario Gotze all found the net as well. Bayern looked strong throughout the whole game and were deserving of the win. Along with three other teams they were able to advance to the Quarterfinals of the Champions League and wait for their next opponent, which will be announced later on this month.

The first goal for Bayern Munich came in the fourth minute thanks to a penalty Shakhtar committed on midfielder Mario Gotze. Thomas Muller stepped up to the plate and got it past goalkeeper Andriy Pyatov to make it a 1-0 lead.

The last goal of the match was put through the net to world cup hero, Mario Gotze. At this point of the game, you can see that the Shakhtar defense was exhausted. A cross from Jerome Boateng saw Mario Gotze get the pass inside the box. Gotze then took his sweet time controlling the ball, making a whole 360 turn and finding the opportunity to find an open shot. He dribbled the ball for a couple seconds and then between two defenders saw an opening and went for the shot to make it a 7-0 game.
