Monday NHL One-Liners

Montreal has heated things up north of the border. The Canadiens own an NHL best 6 game winning streak, coming off back-to-back weekend wins against Philadelphia and Detroit. Not to be out done, both St. Louis and Pittsburgh are 9-1-0 in their last 10 games. Pittsburgh and Montreal have a huge matchup Tuesday night, and the race for Connor McDavid is heating up at the bottom of the standings.

  • Martin St. Louis and the New York Rangers will host the Tampa Bay Lightning, for his first matchup against his former team.  “It’s definitely going to be weird; I just hope I don’t pass him [Stamkos] the puck,” St. Louis said.

– Commissioner Gary Bettman denied reports of owners voting on league expansion during this seasons board of governors meeting in December. “I know it’s been widely reported that there’s a deal and there’s going to be a vote. There won’t be any votes.”

  • Minnesota Wild reactivated goalie Josh Harding off the IR, before releasing him Monday morning. Harding spent his entire career in Minnesota, tallying a 60-59 record, 2.45 GAA, and .918 sv%. The Wild will roll with Darcy Kuemper for the rest of the season.

– Chicago Blackhawks rallied for 4 goals in the third period to beat Dallas Stars 6-2 sunday night. Not to be out done, Nick Bjugstad and the Panthers stunned the Ducks 6-2 at the Honda Center.

– Pittsburgh Penguins forward Pascal Dupuis will miss Tuesday night’s game in Montreal with an unspecified injury. The Montreal suburb native Dupuis, met with Coach Mike Johnston and team doctors Monday morning, and will not accompany the team for the trip.
