After beating the Cubs in 5 games and sweeping the Diamondbacks, the Los Angeles are going to their first World Series since 1988. The Dodgers are not the usual Dodgers team that has disappointed their fans in years past; the Los Angeles Dodgers are this year’s National League Champions.
Excellent Pitching All Around
From the starting pitching to the bullpen., the Los Angeles Dodgers’ pitching has been dominant all postseason. Besides giving up a couple of solo home runs, the Dodgers shut down the Cubs and Diamondbacks this postseason and look like the favorites to win the World Series this year. As a team, the Dodgers have an ERA of 2.74, which is second to the New York Yankees for the best postseason ERA. Clayton Kershaw, Yu Darvish, Kenta Maeda and Kenley Jansen have been solid this postseason and all season. Now the staff must be solid for four more games.
Exceptional Hitting
Game 5 featured an offensive explosion from the Los Angeles Dodgers, and especially Enrique Hernandez, who hit 3 home runs, including a grand slam, and drove in 7 RBI. The Dodgers were just destroying the Cubs bullpen in this series. In Game 1, the Dodgers scored 3 runs against the Cubs’ bullpen.
Justin Turner hit a walk off home run against John Lackey to end Game 2. In Game 3, the Dodgers scored 2 runs off of the bullpen. Finally, in Game 5, the Dodgers exploded and scored 5 runs against the Cubs’ bullpen. The Dodgers line up has been dangerous all season, and the line up is still dominating in the postseason, having the best batting average of the remaining 3 teams. The Dodgers are led by Yasiel Puig, Justin Turner, Cody Bellinger and now Enrique Hernandez, this team should easily be the favorite against the Yankees or Astros.
What is Next for the Cubs

After winning the 2016 World Series, the Chicago Cubs must get bullpen help in order to improve on this season. The Cubs may have lost to the Dodgers, but if you take away the bullpen’s performance, the they would had made this a series. Even so, beating the Washington Nationals and getting back to the NLCS is a great accomplishment.
Conclusion
With the Dodgers going to the World Series, the Yankees or Astros have a tough task ahead. The Dodgers are the hottest team in baseball just like they have been all season.
