Kyle Larson won stage 1 of the event, being the leader after the first 85 laps. Things got testy with Joey Logano and Alex Bowman early on. Bowman blocked Lagano off twice in the first stage while on pit road. Stage 1 only had three different leaders, and Larson led 50 of the 85 laps.

The action started to heat up during the second stage of the day. Larson, Logano, Kevin Harvick, and Martin Truex Jr. all led the race during this stage. Harvick wound up leading the last nine laps of the stage, and secured the stage 2 victory.

Stage 3 was the best stage of the day. It included two cautions, one for debris on the backstretch, and one for fluid on the track. The debris caution was a result of a blown tire from Kyle Busch on lap 227, and the fluid on track caution was on lap 274. Logano, Harvick, Larson, and Truex Jr. all led during the stage, but Brad Keselowski came out of nowhere to pass all four and gain the lead with 33 laps to go. He never let up, and earned his first win of the 2019 NASCAR season.
