Ask Alexandro – 04/23/2017

Ask Alexandro Zatarain, the CEO of The AOSN, anything about sports!

Welcome to Ask Alexandro, where Alexandro (me) answers your sports question.

This is the very first edition, so I’m pretty stoked about the great questions so far!

If you’d like to submit a question, you may do so HERE or on Twitter @TheRealZatarain.

A little on El Clasico

Great question. Both goalkeepers were exemplary in the match. Marc-André ter Stegen and Keylor Navas made key saves that kept the game from getting out of hand for either side.

Lionel Messi was beaten up early but made Real Madrid pay the price, scoring two of Barcelona’s three goals. Ivan Rakitic was also key, adding a goal and an assist.

To put it in simple terms: Goalies, Messi and Rakitic.

Anything more exciting than the 2017 NHL Playoffs?

There’s one thing I always tell people: Playoff hockey is the best. Nothing, I mean NOTHING, beats overtime in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

The 2017 edition of the playoffs have given us 19 overtime games in just the first round, breaking the record set in 2013 (17). It’s hard to say anything has been more exciting. If anything, last year’s World Series Game 7 and the New England Patriots come back in Super Bowl 51 come to mind. Unfortunately, those are just single games.

As for a full postseason, the 2017 Stanley Cup Playoffs will be difficult to beat.

If anyone has an opinion on this, I more than welcome it.

Do the Portland Trail Blazers have something in Jusuf Nurkic?

Jusuf Nurkic is averaging career highs in nearly every category. In his first two seasons with the Denver Nuggets, Nurkic started in 30 games. He’s started in 48 in 2017 (29 with Denver and 19 with Portland).

This season was very important for him for few reasons: play time and playoff experience. It’s unfortunate that he’s facing injuries and will miss game 4 against the Golden State Warriors, but this 22-year old is bound to get better. If he continues his progression, he’ll give Damian Lillard some much needed help.

Always have to talk about Cleveland quarterbacks

Johnny Manziel, with as much talent as he had, only brought one thing that Brandon Weeden didn’t: distraction.

Manziel created a huge name for himself with his attitude, money gesture and explosive plays. He showed some signs in the NFL but his lifestyle didn’t translate well.

Weeden was nowhere near to the star-power but has been a somewhat reliable back-up. He has the commitment that Manziel failed to have.

Weeden is still in the NFL, so there’s that.

In what could have been a high return, Manziel was a much worse pick.

I appreciate all of the questions and I do hope to get more everyday! Here’s to making this a daily segment!

Talk to you all soon!
