The United States Men’s National soccer team came out with an astonishing result after defeating the Netherlands, 4-3. The American’s came back after falling into a two goal deficit in the first 15 minutes of the second half to shock the Oranje.

Klaas-Jan Huntelaar scored on the 27th but Gyasi Zardes answered immediately on the 33rd minute in order to tie the game up. It wasn’t until the second half that the game seemed to get out of hand for the United States.

Huntelaar scored on the 49th minute and was then followed by Memphis Depay on the 53rd minute to but the Netherlands up 3-1.

The substitutions of DeAndre Yedlin, Mix Diskerud, and Daniel Williams proved to be key for Jurgen Klinsmann and the USMNT. Yedlin proved to be a lot of trouble for Daley Blind on the right flank, which resulted in a boost of confidence for the midfield.

John Brooks pulled one back for the Americans on the 70th minute and Klinsmann’s men began to press forward, putting a lot of pressure on the Netherlands. Daniel Williams put in the equalizer on the 89th minute after a Michael Bradley corner kick came his way at the top of the box.

Bobby Wood sealed the deal on the 90th minute after the Dutch nearly took the lead. Bradley started the counterattack and gave the ball Jordan Morris. Morris then crossed the ball over to Bobby Wood, who then tapped the ball in for the shocking victory in Amsterdam.

“Are we coming here to get results? Yes, we are,” Klinsmann told reporters yesterday. “We want to compete with them, in real games. And we want to see a lot of things from our players, just a couple weeks away from the Gold Cup.” The victory is definitely a statement as the USMNT prepares for the CONCACAF tournament.

The USMNT will face World Cup champion Germany next Wednesday in preparations for the CONCACAF Gold Cup.
