Shifting in the Top-10

On Tuesday night, November 11th, the College Football Committee gathered and announced their top-25. We are going to focus in on the top-10. Most, if not all, teams outside of the Top-10 are out of the top-4.  The one possible exception may sit all the way down at 21 (Duke). If Duke wins out, including the ACC championship against Florida State, there is an outside chance that the committee may lift them up. Below is listed the Top-10 from last week (week 2) and this week (week 3).

Week 2                                                 Week 3

(1) Mississippi St.                              (1) Mississippi State
(2) Florida State                                 (2) Oregon
(3) Auburn                                           (3) Florida State
(4) Oregon                                            (4) TCU
(5) Alabama                                         (5) Alabama
(6) TCU                                                   (6) Arizona State
(7) Kansas State                                  (7) Baylor
(8) Michigan State                              (8) Ohio State
(9) Arizona State                                 (9) Auburn
(10) Notre Dame                                 (10) Ole Miss

Three teams fell out of the top-10, those teams being Kansas State, Michigan State and Notre Dame. The three teams that jumped up into those vacancies were Ole Miss, Ohio State and Baylor.

Playoff Match-Up

If this was the playoff final picks, we would have two very intriguing match-ups. Mississippi State would play TCU and Oregon would face Florida State. There are many individuals that would clamor for the Oregon and Florida State game to see Marcus Mariota and Jameis Winston.

Alabama in Control

Even though Alabama is on the outside looking in, they have the best chance of reaching the top-4. the reason for the possibility is not only because they are one spot back but it is because of their schedule. Next week, they play Mississippi State. If they beat them, they will move into the top-4 and to secure the spot, if they win out against Auburn and win the SEC championship game; there will not be another one loss team that will surpass them.

SEC WEST

The question many will be asking is the following, “is the west really that good”? They have four teams sitting in the top-ten.

Florida State

Is there a crack in their armor? Are individuals beginning to believe that they are not really that good? Has their schedule been weak? For whatever the reason, Oregon took advantage of it and snagged the #2 spot.

Prediction

In the end, there will be a few shake ups. Mississippi State and Oregon will fall out. Alabama and Arizona State will move up. Florida State will move back up to #1 even with individuals not believing fully in them. Alabama will surge to #2 with their three big wins to finish out the season. TCU will remain at #3. The BIG12 not playing a championship will keep them  at #3. This can be a positive or negative. A championship game could prove their case to be higher or it could knock them out. Arizona State will beat Oregon in the Pac-12 championship game and sneak into #4 slot.
