The Toronto Blue Jays have acquired center fielder Ben Revere from the Philadelphia Phillies for Jimmy Cordero and Alberto Tirado.

Revere was drafted by the Minnesota Twins with the 28th overall pick in the 2007 MLB Draft and made his debut in 2010. The Blue Jays will be his 3rd team.

A career .292 hitter with 169 stolen bases, Revere is having a typical season with a .298 batting average and 24 stolen bases. He led the league in hits last season with 184, and is hitting .345 since June 1.

The Blue Jays have made a statement this trade season, pulling out all of the stops in a bid to make the playoffs this season. They made a blockbuster of a trade to get Troy Tulowitzki and LaTroy Hawkins, then acquired David Price to strengthen their rotation, added Mark Lowe to their bullpen, and now they have added a speedy center fielder. The Blue Jays are doing everything they can to end the longest current playoff drought, which stands at 22 years, when they won their 2nd consecutive World Series Championship in 1993.

Revere is arbitration eligible after this season.

All MLB trades are pending medical reviews.
