After being knocked out of the Champions League once again in the round of 16s, Arsenal had to forget about that and focus playing well in the Premier League. Visiting St. James Park has always been challenging for Arsenal and this time was no different.

Arsenal within four minutes changed the game and were up on the scoresheet two nil after Olivier Giroud found the back of the net twice. First goal was minute 24′ on a free-kick set piece. Santi Cazorla crossed the ball, Danny Welbeck flicked the ball, and Giroud, with his left thigh, made enough contact to beat Tim Krul to first post.

Four minutes later, on a corner kick Arsenal found their second goal. Giroud, without jumping, headed the ball to second post. The Newcastle defender focused so much on Giroud that he forgot to beat him to the ball.

Second half, Newcastle came out more inspired than ever and scored within 3 minutes into the half. Moussa Sissoko made a beautiful finish with the inside of his foot after a perfect cross by Remy Cabella who made a good run down the right side.

Newcastle controlled the second half and kept creating dangerous opportunities. As the half went on, Arsenal adapted well and were able to defend and not let Newcastle scored a second goal.

Arsenal continue to be one point away from Manchester City who continue to be in second. After this tough result for Newcastle, they currently sit in 12th place. Arsenal will receive Liverpool at the Emirates for what seems to be the best game to watch that weekend.
