Another Injury for Romo

A CT scan on Friday showed that Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo fractured his left collarbone following a hit by Carolina Panthers Thomas Davis on Thanksgiving.

In the 33-14 Panthers win, Romo suffered a season-ending injury just two weeks after returning from his previous collarbone injury that caused him to miss seven games. The Cowboys went 0-7 in that stretch.

Now, it appears Dallas’ season is over after dropping to 3-8 as the NFC East race heats up this Sunday between the New York Giants and the Washington Redskins. According to Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, Romo will not have surgery and should be ready to go come March for the off-season program.

Matt Cassel will start in place of the injured Romo. This is the second time in Romo’s career that he finishes the year with a collarbone injury, as he missed the majority of the 2010 season with the same issue.

The image on Thursday, however, looked similar to what transpired in Philadelphia September 20th. Romo laid on his back with a clear look of pain on his face, while trainers and personnel attended to the quarterback.

Romo finishes the 2015 season having played in only four games, with 884 passing yards, a 68.6 percent completion percentage, five touchdowns and seven interceptions.

The 35-year-old had his worst game of the season against the undefeated Panthers prior to the injury, however, as he finished 11-for-21 for 106 yards and three interceptions, including two taken back to the house.

Romo had this to say in a press conference following the game.

The injury plague continues to haunt Dallas’ season, and as a result, the Cowboys look forward to 2016 as a year that things start to look up.
