Any doubts whether the Boston Bruins are contenders to win the Eastern Conference were put to rest last night.

In a flash back to the stanley cup finals, the Bruins blew an early 2-0 lead only to have the game tied at 3 with .3 seconds left on the clock. With time running out, Penguins Captain and NHL leading point getter Sidney Crosby found the back of net to tie the game.  The tie was short lived, as Bruins Defenseman Torey Krug connected on his first shot of the evening, only 34 seconds into overtime.  Is this a preview of a potential playoff series between the two?  If so, I for one am excited.

North of the border, No problem for Chicago and Los Angeles.

Chicago rolled as they put up 5 goals in Edmonton.  Oilers starting goaltender Devan Dubnyk only lasted 25 minutes, being pulled after giving up his 4th goal and a 4-0 deficit.  Ilya Bryzgalov came in to stop the bleeding, and held chicago to 1 goal on 13 shots faced.

A much different game took place at the Rogers Arena in Vancouver.

Trading goals back and forth Los Angeles Kings Captain Mike Richards scored on his 2nd shot of the night tying the game at 2 late in the third period.  Just like the game in Boston, it didn’t take long to finish in overtime.  Anze Kopitar netted the game winner just 48 seconds into the overtime period.

Todays only action is in the Lone Star State.

The Anaheim Ducks travel to Dallas for the only game of the night against the home Stars.  Dallas is looking for its first win at home since october 24th.  It’s been a rough stretch for head coach Lindy Ruff who looks to right the ship at home tonight.  Starting goalie Keith Lehtonen will have his hands full as Anaheim is looking for a win, and the overall point lead in the NHL.

My pick

Anaheim 4-2
