Atletico Madrid were able to get another three points against Deportivo la Coruna on Saturday afternoon as they were able to win 2-0. Antoine Griezmann was able to get his 19th and 20th goal of the season, surpassing Neymar on the all time La Liga scorer sheet to take third place, behind Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Atletico has struggled to get points on the table the past few weeks but they were able to find the chemistry they needed in order for them to keep their hopes alive for the Champions league competition next season. From moving down to 4th place to taking third once again, Atletico needs to win the next couple matches to stay in the run. The team looked great on the field as they all were able to pass nicely and help Griezmann get the two goals of the match.

Deportivo on the other hand with this loss moves down to 18 place and is facing relegation with six matches left to go. They will need to somehow step it up to get out of relegation and not end up in La Liga Adelante next season.

The first goal came in the 5th minute for Atletico Madrid as Griezmann scored a beautiful bicycle kick and got his team 1-0. There was poor defending from Deportivo following  free kick by Koke. Deportivo failed to clear the danger and it looped back into the area by Jose Gimenez for Griezmann, who was on side, and made no mistake to kick a nice overhead kick past goalkeeper Fabricio and just under the bar to take the lead.

The next goal came in the 22nd minute and again it was Griezmann that made it 2-0. Deportivo was undone yet again by some sloppy defending. Jesus Gamez did well to get forward on the flank and win a throw in. He was able to play in inside the area but no one from Deportivo was able to clear the ball. This allowed Griezmann to run kindly to the ball and saw the striker take the shot and made no mistake to drill it low and into the bottom corner past Fabricio.

The game ended with a score of 2-0 and both goals were made by Griezmann who had two shots in the first half and two goals. Atletico Madrid now have to face their city rivals on Tuesday for the Champions League quarterfinal and hope to continue unbeaten against Real Madrid. They will then face Elche on Saturday while Deportivo faces Malaga on Sunday and hope to get out of relegation.

The man of the match goes out to Antoine Griezmann who was able to score both goals of the match and continue his great form for Atletico Madrid.
